Bonjour LivingA managed residence model with private apartments, shared spaces and services that adapt to residents.Leonard (VINCI)Paris FR · Porto PTBusiness model2024/25

Problem

Urban housing forces trade-offs between space, location, privacy and community. Managed residences offer convenience but little control, while rising costs shrink what people can afford.

What they built

Bonjour Living is built around four zones: a private apartment, a small cluster sharing occasional amenities, building-wide spaces such as gardens and coworking, and public-facing areas that connect to the neighbourhood.

Impact

Residents gain flexibility, comfort and community and can stay longer. VINCI gets stronger tenant retention and new revenue from public-facing areas.

BIBOAn intelligent toy that behaves like a pet, learns commands and senses emotion, without the mess.iSoftStoneHefei CNPhysical product2017/18

Problem

How can humans and machines communicate emotionally? People are busy and struggle to build deep emotional connections.

What they built

BIBO starts with random moves and learns commands such as come here or turn left through interaction. It senses the user's emotions from touch patterns and responds.

Impact

User tests showed people liked BIBO a lot. The project gave the sponsor practical insight into AI applications.

FlipA personal shopping cart that slides and folds into the car boot by button.SONAE MCMelbourne AU · Porto PTPhysical product2017/18

Problem

Optimise end-to-end shopping transport in food retail, from the moment a customer needs something to the purchase arriving at home.

What they built

Flip carries products inside and outside the supermarket, slides into the boot and folds. Two detachable, collapsible baskets adapt to different boots and ease loading and storage.

Impact

Less loading, unloading and lifting for shoppers. SONAE MC improves the shopping experience and strengthens its brand presence.

Domus Sapiens platformA smart-home platform that links sensors, automation devices and service providers for home facility management.eFMEspoo FI · Modena ITPlatform2012/13

Problem

Connect customers and service providers in facility management in a smart way, combining technology appliances and social networks.

What they built

Domus Sapiens aggregates data from home sensors to help people monitor, control and maintain their homes, detect failures and reach the right service provider immediately.

Impact

Residents control their homes, automate maintenance and get help from a maintenance professional when needed.

AgoraA table-top TV with two back-to-back screens so viewers face each other without missing the action.PanasonicParis FR · Potsdam DEPhysical product2011/12

Problem

How could TV use improve while people keep interacting? 65% of viewers do something else while watching, and complex remotes degrade the experience.

What they built

Households still gather in front of the TV, but wall-mounted sets line people up side by side. AGORA places two 23-inch screens back to back on the coffee table.

Impact

Testers felt a stronger human connection. Panasonic can step away from bigger is better and lead towards a more social living room.

PulseAn app where people create sponsored events by taking a picture, making advertising a shared experience, for Rovio.Rovio EntertainmentPotsdam DE · Espoo FI · Kyoto JPDigital service2011/12

Problem

Advertising is largely ignored and mistrusted. Rovio asked for a new, organic and engaging advertising format for digital entertainment.

What they built

Any group can start a Pulse event by taking a picture. Events collect photos in real time, appear on a heat map and carry a sponsor whose Smart Content improves the experience.

Impact

Brands become a chosen part of experiences rather than an interruption. For Rovio, a new media channel in line with its vision.

TUPAA multifunctional plywood baby product that converts from crib to table, chairs and toy box.UPMEspoo FI · Kyoto JPPhysical product2010/11

Problem

UPM's new Grada plywood allows stronger, more durable bonds. The brief: create a product that opens new opportunities for the technology.

What they built

Inspired by Finland's Kela maternity package, TUPA turns into an infant bed with rocking crib, a table, chairs, a stepping stool or a toy box.

Impact

Families save up to 710 EUR with one adaptable piece of furniture, easing the financial weight of a new child.
